KOKO #6 - THE ONE WHEN WE BROKE 100 (AND WILL HIT THE ROOF WITH HIS 3-WOOD)

One the day, the weather was kind enough which I'm sure was due in part to the blizzard of offerings sent up to every known deity over the preceding week! We even enjoyed a terrace bathed in sunshine before dinner. We had the biggest field yet of 100 who were not put off by the meteorological doom mongering and who played golf ranging from ludicrously good to just plain ludicrous.  Team captains - please do pass on my sincere thanks to your team members.

Steve and GolfGameBook yet again provided the scoring platform which saved hours of post-round mathematical errors - thank you, Steve! All the results are available here and the honours board will be updated for next year:

Special congrats to Simon Moore who won the silver claret jug with a 77, having never broken 80 before. Congrats also to Phil Rowsell who broke my golden rule of only being able to win one gong - I figured that a tee shot on #7 which was an inch away from a hole-in-one was worth celebrating, in addition to being the strongest player in the field (holding everyone else above him as he did!). Well done to all who left with something - Jonathan, I'll get you your belt soon! Will, you should know better than to hit the clubhouse with your approach on 14!

One small piece of business: if you remember there was a little confusion over the "golden putter". If you think that your name may have been on the board before "Return of the Ged" got the the green and misinterpreted the rule (t was longest putt held, not closest approach), do let me know - i have a lovely mounted 1950's putter to give to you!

Many of you will have encountered my cousin Mark and his lens throughout the day. He snapped all of us at some point and his edited highlights are here - thanks so much, Marco! If anyone else took any pics, please do forward them on for me to include in the album of the day:

Thank you once again to Woking GC for hosting us so well again this year - the whole team at the Club were magnificent. Perhaps next year, I'll put up a marque so that we can all sit in the same place!

And a final thanks to you for your overwhelming generosity before, during and after the day. Between raffle tickets, mulligans, the auctions and other donations, we have raised about £13,000 for White Lodge which will be put to very good use for the benefit of Sophia and her friends. We are extremely grateful. And for those of you with auction winnings to look forward to, I hope you enjoy them.

If you want to find out a little more about what White Lodge do, here's their website:

As soon as i have it finalised, I'll confirm the date for KOKO next year.

In the meantime, keep on keeping on!
